The Melancholy Korean is a former derivatives trader living in New York.  He loves Dante, James Joyce and Flaubert.  He has studied French, German, Japanese, Sanskrit, and Hebrew, but of these languages, he remembers only, "avez-vous un cendrier?"  Yes, he smokes.  No, he doesn't know Korean.

Leon Badges is a painter, illustrator, draftsman, and cartoonist.

“I can’t believe you’re voting for Obama.  He’s such an elitist.”

“What’s wrong with that, Blue?”

“Oh, be serious.”

“I’m perfectly serious.”

“Oh, Melancholy.  Why do I even bother with you?”

“As Joseph Alsop once wrote, this is a fat and flabby country.  With obesity rates where they are today, I would say we are fatter and flabbier than any time in our history—hell, than any time in all of human history—and I’m talking about spiritually more than physically.  If that’s even possible.  I welcome a President I can respect.”

“Oh, you just think you’re so smart, don’t you?”
